Aug. 27 (Bloomberg) — The man who may become Germanys finance minister after next months elections, Hermann Otto Solms , says tax and spending cuts are needed to lift the nation out of its worst economic crisis since World War II.

Gov. Pat Quinn is set to take action on a campaign finance bill that Republicans lawmakers have called on him to veto. GOP leaders in the General Assembly say the bill is flawed and they want to work on a new version.
